For most I tried it, a digital print is that: something repeated and repeatable. I made many dummies with crappy prints, but rarely I do a print of a digital photo, even if I love it. Books or zines just don’t sell and I have too many photo books to add my own ones

Can you ever have too many photo books? But I take your point. Personally, I'm not looking to sell stuff. Everything I do is for my own enjoyment and to give to friends and family.

If you move to china with your photo book collection you will definitely decide to sell at least 99% of them. They are highly heavy, expensive to move and not more than 1% of them deserve a whole life reading 😊

You're right that I didn't bring many photo books with me to China, but I didn't sell any. They're in storage for a few years until I'm finished here. Since I'm not well enough organised to have a list of them I'm looking forward to unpacking. I fully expect to have forgotten quite a few and it will be like having a whole new batch of books to look at.

When you get back for them they won’t be the same. I sold a lot, still have a lot.. I open a photo book not more often than once every two or three months

At first I tried to make the perfect photobook and it became a burden. Now it's a pleasure and if there's anything that needs tweaking, I tweak and reprint.

I'm in total agreement. I bought a $100 printer a few years ago and print my photos with it. I stick the photos up on the wall of a small room in my house where I practice yoga. Once the walls are full, I take the older photos down and replace them with new ones. There is something special about seeing our work in physical form. The work is precious to me but the physical print is but an object that tracks my photography journey. I get to enjoy them and learn from them when they are on a wall.

That's a nice idea. I did something similar in my last workplace. I was in a cubicle and printed out pictures regularly and stuck them on the walls of my space, moved them around, added new ones. Thankfully my boss was okay with it. When I was getting frustrated with something at work I could just sit back and look at the pictures for a while. I'm sure it made me more productive.

I do want to print (more), but I don't want to end up with these shoeboxes full of photos :) If anything, I think I want to steer more towards printing 'zines' than single photo's. Maybe I need to give Blurb a try :)

The small prints are good for working out a layout for zines and books, and if you're not going to display them anywhere you could print up some stickers with your social media / website info and leave them lying around. If you have a local cafe or coffee shop you could ask if they would put a bunch of them out for people to take.

I've used blurb a lot and I've settled on their magazine option because it offers decent quality at a reasonable price. That said, there are lots of other options. I've heard good things about Mixam, but I haven't tried them yet myself.

Yeah there are many option to have something printed these days. I have used Saal a couple of times. Very nice products, but not really cheap.

I prefer the books/zines idea than a print on its own, particularly given the way that digital could potentially be erased or lost. Need to break through my preciousness. Thanks for the encouragement!

I also tend to prefer books/zines unless I want something to hang on a wall or sit on a desk. I do get a lot of cheap 6x4s done though. These are fun to give away or leave lying around. Spreading them all out on a big table is also a better way to see themes and connections than viewing a few at a time on screen.

Those pictures you took of Tbilisi in 2012: n 2024 in spite of the huge changes in the city, you can still get the same vibe, the same people, the same suspension in time and space. Do you have more?

Thanks for sharing those, and for sharing your advices on printing books.
